Administrative Assistant / Bookkeeper

Job Description

 

Duties and Job Functions

         

  1. Prepare and print worship bulletins (weekly, special services, funeral, etc.)

  2. Produce Church’s monthly newsletter (Church Chatter)

  3. Compile Annual Report

  4. Maintain church files on computer, keeping hard copies when necessary

  5. Record and acknowledge memorial/honorary gifts to donors and recipients

  6. Maintain church calendar, personal calendar and bulletin board

  7. Answer telephone, take and direct messages appropriately

  8. Distribute mail

  9. Maintain church website and assist with Facebook page updates

  10. Distribute bills to proper approving authority

  11. Pay bills/print checks using Powerchurch

  12. Mail checks for bills once signatures obtained

  13. Order and maintain supplies for office/receive deliveries

  14. Coordinate maintenance of office equipment

  15. Work with groups/agencies using the facilities (coordinate with Buildings and Grounds)

  16. Maintain and update office manual, including contact information for “community help” agencies; assist callers in need of this information

  17. Assist individuals who visit the office

  18. Coordinate issues and repairs to computers with Administration Chair

  19. Perform other duties as requested by Pastor and church members

  20. Other Bookkeeping duties will be added in the future

Required Skills

 

Microsoft Word, Publisher and Excel; Ability to update Website and Facebook;

Knowledge of Powerchurch a plus (not required - we can train)

 

Accountability

 

Supervision is conducted by the Pastor, Administration Committee and Session of the Church.

 

Hours

 

Three part-time days per week, up to twelve hours total.

Compensation

 

Hourly wage of $15/hour; this is a 1099 position. 

 

There will be a 3-month probationary period, after which there will be an evaluation.
