Food insecurity occurs when a household cannot access enough food due to a lack of money and other essential resources. It is often linked to one or multiple factors that lead to food insecurity, creating a cycle that can be hard to break. These factors can be related to household income, expenses, access to affordable health care, the surrounding social and physical environment, and barriers to opportunity which play a role in preventing some households and communities from being food secure. https://map.feedingamerica.org/county/2023/overall/georgia/county/clayton

Promise 686

Working in coordination with Clayton County DFACS to provide necessary items to families in transition
From the Promise 686 website
Foster care is notorious for its unrelenting and unending cycle. Kids face family breakdown, placement in an unfamiliar home, disruption, and too often, disruption again. Sadly, many children age-out of foster care without a permanent or lasting sense of family.
It takes faith, time, money, and emotion to care for vulnerable children. Without support, the role of a foster parent can feel nearly impossible.
The national average of families who quit fostering within their first year is about 50%.
That means we not only need to increase the number of families caring for vulnerable children, but we need to create support for these families so they can foster longer and stronger.
We partner with churches to create Family Advocacy Ministries (FAMs), providing what vulnerable children need most... strong families.
Furthering Fathering
Providing clothing for men transitioning from prison or other situations to help as they seek employment or reestablish relationships.
From the Furthering Fathering website
We encourage, honor, train and hold fathers accountable in a safe environment by helping them creatively and actively serve, train, reconcile and create lasting memories for their children. As a fatherhood agency, we help fathers along the journey of fatherhood with best practices, fatherhood resources, fatherhood curriculum and information to help navigate healthy choices via our fatherhood blog, fatherhood radio show and fatherhood podcast.

Marion Medical Mission
Collection of loose change monthly to help build fresh water wells in rural Africa
From the Marion Medical Mission website
When Dr. McGill moved from the Democratic Republic of Congo to the country of Malawi in 1990, MMM’s volunteer team headed there too. While in Malawi, the Logans became aware of the great need for safe drinking water. Tom was with Dr. John Knowles, a missionary doctor at Ekwendeni hospital, when they came across a well that had never been installed.
Dr. Knowles was upset that the government wasn’t following through on their promises of clean water for the people. Tom turned to him and said, “Why don’t you do it?” Dr. Knowles pointed the question back, saying “Why don’t YOU?” The Logans were convinced, realizing that a lack of clean, safe drinking water was the root cause of many of the medical problems their volunteers were treating. As a result, MMM shifted its focus from curative medicine to preventative medicine through the provision of functional wells.
